Piggott Farmer’s Market will hold a grand opening from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Friday and Saturday, June 16 and 17. The market is once again being held at the First National Bank Pavilion on East Main Street.
Rector School Board met Monday, June 12, at 5:30 p.m. in the Administration Building with all members present with the exception of Secretary Kirk Ford. The board heard the Financial Report from Superintendent Johnny Fowler for May, 2023 and approved the report with $1,650, 464.94 in operating fund, building fund in two categories $2,379,749.21 and $3,469,749.21 and when added with Federal funds and cafeteria funds, the total fund balance is $5,359,343.21.
The Piggott Cemetery Association will host the annual Fourth of July Picnic and Homecoming Tuesday, July 4. The first four pageants will kick off the celebration on Monday, July 3 with the addition of the Ms. Piggott pageant. Festivities will continue Tuesday morn-ing at 9 .m. with the annual parade. This year’s theme is “The 150 YearAnniversary of Clay County.” Leading the parade as grand marshal will be Sue Cole.

As if starting over with raising Mack, age five, were not a full time, all-consuming operation, Fallon Russell handles all the farm’s paperwork and the payroll. She’s an involved mom with all her children. She says, “My dad, Eugene Roberts, is farm manager.” Roberts holds his side in a laugh, “I just tell people that.”
