The Rector Labor Day Picnic Committee can not guarantee crisp, fall weather, but they have kept their eyes and ears poised for important weather forecasts given the recent excessive heat from the high-pressure dome poised over the Mid-South. The Weather Channel forecasts highs between 88 and 94 degrees on the critical days of Labor Day weekend for northeast Arkansas.

Agriculture and agriculture related professions are the number one employer in Clay County. The 4-H Youth Leadership Citizenship Team agriculture tour took place on Wednesday, Aug. 23. With the approach of the Labor Day holiday, the Woodland Heights Cemetery Commission is once again conducting a $1,000 drawing as a fundraiser. The drawing will take place on Monday, Sept. 4, on the main stage at the Rector Memorial Park following the Miss Rector Pageant. Persons do not have to be present to win.
