Barbara Crawford Barbara Crawford, 91, of Kennett, Mo., passed away August 31, 2023, at Piggott Community Hospital in Piggott, Ark. She was born on November 3, 1931, in Monette, Ark., and was the daughter of Raymond and Vera Starnes.
The Piggott School District was honored to have Congressman Rick Crawford stop by on Wednesday, Aug. 30, to discuss issues that may be affecting local school districts.
The City of Piggott Parks and Recreation and the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is set to host the 2023 annual family fishing rodeo at Heritage Park. This year’s rodeo will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 9. The event is open to those 15 and under. Organizers note only one pole may be used for each competitor, and there is a three fish limit. Arkansas fishing licenses are required for adults.
The Clay County Fair will be held Wednesday through Saturday, Sept. 13 through 16, at the fairgrounds in Piggott. Keeping with recent tradition, the annual pageants will be held in conjunction with the fair Saturday, Sept. 9, beginning at 9:30 a.m. with the Baby Mr. and Miss Clay County pageants, and will continue throughout the day. A bright, sunny, 8 a.m. Saturday of Labor Day Weekend welcomed over 228 runners and walkers from Rector and surrounding areas to include house guests who arrived for the annual Labor Day Picnic.
