Rector School District will hold parent/teacher conferences from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 28. Parents are encouraged to attend to meet with their child’s teacher to check on their progress.

Piggott Farmers Market is still open every Friday from 8 a.m. to noon at the First National Bank Pavilion on East Main.
The Rector junior and senior high girls basketball teams are holding a community calendar fundraiser. The calendar will consist of birthdays, anniversaries, memorials, etc. and will be available for purchase later this year. The cost to have dates included will be $5.00 per each date listed. Forms and money are due by Friday, Sept. 29 and may be turned in at the elementary of high school office. In response to popular demand, the Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a fall city wide yard sale on Saturday, Oct. 7. As with the spring event, the yard sale fee will be waived by the City of Piggott for that day and a list of participating locations will be available from the Chamber of Commerce. Those wanting to include their sale on the list may call the Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce during regular business hours at 870-5983167 or email chamberpg@yahoo.com. Those who prefer may stop by the chamber office at 100 W. Main.

1983 Mr. Woody Priest, agriculture teacher at Greenway High School, with the help of one of his students, saved the life of another student Thursday, September 15. Matt McCluskey, a sixteenyear0old senior, suffered an apparent cardiac arrest. Priest acted quickly administering mouth to mouth and was assisted by Matt Hollis, who massaged the heart until together they restored respiration and heartbeat.
The Clay County Fair will be held through Saturday, Sept. 16, at the fairgrounds in Piggott. Keeping with recent tradition, the annual pageants were be held in conjunction with the fair Saturday, Sept. 9. All of this year’s winners may be found elsewhere in this edition.
