PCH receives Community Outreach Award

Piggott Community Hospital was recently awarded the Community Outreach Award at the annual ARSAVES/ IDHI Conference held in Hot Springs. The conference is designated to provide the latest evidence-based practice recommendations for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke, how to utilize digital health in the treatment of stroke, and to educate the public on recognizing signs and symptoms of stroke.

Several highly visible projects were undertaken by the Chamber this year

Several highly visible projects were undertaken by the Chamber this year, one of the most recognizable was the Rector signage to welcome residents and visitors to town. The signage that promotes Rector as “forever home,” made its debut on Labor Day weekend. Williams reported that the back of each sign and the potential for two additional signs are in the plans.

RHS hosts annual Senior Night presentation

Nothing proved unlucky in Rector on Friday, Oct. 13, as Rector High School hosted its annual Senior Night presentation before the football game against the Augusta Red Devils. The presentations to the seniors were made by Athletic Director Nate Henderson, cheer coach Chelsea Clark, and football coach David Hendrix. Announcers for the event were Karrin Henderson and Emma Holmes.

Junior Cougars victorious over Red Devils

Rector’s Junior Cougar football team enjoyed a spirited victory over the Augusta Red Devils on Friday, Oct. 13, in front of a crowd anxious for another junior win. The second half started with Augusta sending the kick-off down the field to Lawson Green who gathered it in and took off toward the end zone and Waylon Haynes converted for bonus 2 points, bringing the lopsided score for the Cougars to 40 – 0 against the Red Devils. If that was not enough, the Red Devils arched a lob into double coverage and Rector’s Lincoln Willingham ran away for another touchdown with the game clock running. During the final series, Coach Robert Dorman called for a kneedown to end the game, Rector taking the victory 46 – 0.
