The University of Central Arkansas, in partnership with the city of Conway and Conway Regional Airport, will start the new UCA Aviation Academy that will result in private and commercial aviation training, ratings and licensure in spring 2024.

1983 Construction is underway on a major expansion project at the Darling Store Fixtures Plant in Piggott. The 100,000 square foot addition will almost double the space at the plant.
A stirring welcome from Joey Pruett to the packed house that attended the Veterans Day Program at the Ford Room mentioned that Rector has a two-star and a three-star general to honor on Veterans Day – one being General George Barker and the other, a long time, now deceased three-star general who served in WWI, WWII, and Korea, Dylan O Hickey.
The Piggott School Board met on Monday, Nov. 13 with all members present. The first order of business was the district financial report from Micheal Dobbs of First Security- Beardsley of Little Rock. According to Dobbs the dis-trict is in good and consistent shape.
Rector School Board met Monday, Nov. 13, at the Administration Building and heard from Michael McBride, financial representative of Stephens Financial in Little Rock. McBride has been on board with Rector School District in the process required to undertake the construction of a new high school. His financial expertise has provided clear steps to achieve the District’s goal.
Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield provided $2,500 in funding to 75 Arkansas schools to create calming rooms to help with the mental well-being of students. Piggott was one of the chosen schools to receive the funds. The calming rooms will be a space to help students dealing with anxiety and depression. The room will have tranquil colors, soft lighting and comfortable furniture. Sensory objects such as journals and adult coloring books will be provided as well as positive and inspirational messages.
