Horton chosen Grand Marshal for Rector Christmas Parade

Christmas is Love. Snoopy, Charlie Brown, Lucy, and Woodstock agree that it’s not the tree. All the Who’s in Whoville teach the Grinch and us about Christmas “as long as we have we.” Grand Marshal of the Rector Christmas Parade, Zelda Horton, shares, “Christmas is my thing.” Everybody in her family knows that she’ll go overboard. The large Horton family understands that she will always want to make each Christmas season special. “The thing is, though, we all should strive to make every day special. Life changes way too quickly.”

Water, sewer rates main topic at Rector Council meeting

At the monthly Rector City Council meeting held on Monday, Nov. 6, at the Rector Community Center, a vote was taken on the amendments of Ordinances 548 and 563 that are specific to water rates and sewer (wastewater) rates. The City Council held limited discussion prior to the vote because lengthy discussions had been held in the past six months about the separation of the water rate and sewer rate and the leveling of the fees. These changes, as discussed by the Council, are required to move forward with the mandated correction of the sewer/ wastewater system and the sewer pond.
