On Friday, Nov. 24, 2023, a Clay County Deputy initiated a traffic stop on Pine Street in Rector. Upon making contact with the driver, the deputy noticed what appeared to be drug paraphernalia in the seat with the driver. The deputy had the driver exit the vehicle and he then retrieved a pipe from the seat.
On the morning of Friday, Nov. 24, 2023, the Rector Police Department received information about possible drug activity at a residence in Rector. The Rector Police Department contacted the Clay County Sheriff’s Department to assist with the investigation.

Emma Lee Oliver Emma Lee Oliver, 91, of Piggott, Ark., passed away November 25, 2023, at Rector Nursing and Rehab in Rector, Ark. She was born on January 26, 1932, in Clay County, Ark., and was the daughter of the late Jake and Mayme (Jenkins) Halter.

Peggy Jean Amann Peggy Jean Amann, 80, of Piggott, Ark., passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at Piggott Healthcare and Senior Living. Peggy was born in Supply, Ark., on Tuesday, May 4, 1943, to Newell Clead and Inell Molencupp.

Carolyn June Eaton Johnson Carolyn June Eaton Johnson, age 78, died peacefully on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at Crestpark Nursing Home in Forrest City. Carolyn was born December 22, 1944, in Rector, the daughter of Manuel and Laura Eaton.
The Piggott Public Library is currently offering gift wrapping services for the holiday season. The “elves” at the library will be wrapping gifts through noon Friday, Dec. 22. Event organizers noted most gifts will be wrapped, and ready for pickup, within 24 hours. And, there is no charge—as the elves are working for donations.
