Massey receives scholarship from Three Rivers College
Three Rivers College awarded the Leonard Query Memorial Scholarship to Annalee Massey of Piggott, AR for the Fall 2023 semester. Leonard Query Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to an in-district sophomore in the field of Marketing and Sales.
Division of Workforce Services opens office on BRTC Paragould campus
The Arkansas Division of Workforce Services recently opened an office on the Black River Technical College (BRTC) Paragould campus. The office is open from 8 a.m.

1983 The Greenway and Rector school boards voted unanimously Friday night to submit a reorganization plan to voters in the two districts in the March 13 school election. The two districts are planning to merge.
Cougars prevail at Marmaduke
On Monday and Tuesday evenings, Dec. 11 and Dec. 12, the road between Rector and Marmaduke was heavy with fan traffic making the short trek to the gym in Marmaduke. The Monday rivalry games pitted the junior and senior Lady Cougars and junior and senior Lady Greyhounds. Tuesday’s games found the boys teams in tight contests with plenty of heart stopping action. Rector’s girls and guys were coming off disappointing outings with Riverside at home, so these contests seemed must-wins, though early in the season.
Holiday Tour of Homes held in Piggott
The weather was perfect on Sunday, Dec. 10 for the Holiday Tour of Homes in Piggott and it was a tremendous success with 45 tickets being purchased to view these beautiful homes.
ACTIVE SHOOTER REPONSE TRAINING
United States Deputy Sheriff ’s Association trainers conducted an Active Shooter Response/ Tactical Entry training course for the Piggott Police Department, Clay County Sheriff ’s Department, Rector Police Department, Piggott School Police and the Corning Police Department on Sunday, Dec. 10 at the Piggott Elementary School. “We would like to thank all the trainers as well as all the participants from each department. We would also like to thank the Piggott Elementary School for allowing us to use their facility,” commented a spokesperson for the Piggott Police Department.
