Pesticide Applicator Training planned Thursday in Corning

The Clay County Extension Service is offering its annual pesticide applicator training at 9 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, at Clay County Electric located on Hwy. 67 near Corning and at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 20, at the Extension office located at 148 East Main in Piggott. The training is required for agriculture producers to qualify for license to purchase restricted pesticides. The class costs $20 and those interested must be present for the entire training session to be certified for a license for the Arkansas State Plant Board. The course can also be completed online at https:// courses.uada.edu/. HPMEC plans Eclipse Block Party

Dr. Les Johnson will be the guest speaker for a program planned at the Eclipse Block Party Monday, April 8, at 11 a.m. at the Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Educational Center. There will be a $10 admission which will include eclipse glasses and an eclipse box of treats. The viewing site will be held on the grounds across from the museum. Those attending are encouraged to bring your lawn chair and set up will begin at 9 a.m.

Hoffman named to Dean’s List

Carolina Hoffman, of Marmaduke, has been named to the Dean’s List at Greenville University in Greenville, Ill., for the fall 2023 semester. To qualify for the Greenville University Dean’s List, a student must successfully complete a minimum of 12 hours for the semester.

Poll worker training set

Poll worker training for Clay County will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, at the Piggott Community Center with the second training set for Saturday, Feb. 33, at 1 p.m. at the M.B. Ainley Community Center in Corning. Other trainings will be Tuesday afternoon, April 12, and Thursday afternoon, April 14, at 3:30 at the Corning Warehouse. It is noted that you must attend only one of the two trainings to be certified to work the polls for any election during the next two years. My Valentine’s Shoppe planned

My Valentine’s Shoppe event is planned from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 3 at the Piggott Community Center located at 161 E.
