Hemingway-Pfeiffer to host Movies on the Lawn

Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Educational Center will host Movies on the Lawn at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 5. The featured movie will be October Sky, a movie based on a true story of Homer Hickam, a NASA engineer. As a teenager in 1957, Hickam and his friends began designing their own rockets. The event is sponsored by Piggott State Bank and is free to the public. Everyone is encouraged to bring their lawn chair and join in the celebration of the Great Solar Eclipse. Clay County Fair Board holds monthly meeting

The Clay County Fair Board held their regular monthly meeting Monday, March 11 at the fair kitchen. During the meeting it was noted that the fairgrounds will be open for primitive camping during the weekend prior to the solar eclipse on Monday, April 8. The fairgrounds will also be hosting a variety of events on Sunday, April 7, including an outdoor church service, and a family friendly movie under the stars beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Piggott City Wide Yard Sale set

With only a couple of weeks remaining before the event, the Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce reminds local residents to make their plans for the annual Piggott City Wide Yard Sale. This year’s sale will be held Saturday, March 30, and sales held that day are not required to purchase a permit from the city. Locations will also be featured on a list, which will be available from the Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce. Those wanting to list their sale, along with a brief description, may do so by email at chamberpg@yahoo.com or call 870-598-3167. The last day for listings is Wednesday, March 27.
