Powhatan School of the Lady offers programs

The Historic Powhatan School of the Lady is a school for ladies interested in re-enacting the 19th century. In two and a half days, it covers subjects that engage all levels of living history, from beginners to masters. Participants will learn about all aspects of life that pertain to 19th century women including etiquette, sewing tech-niques, cooking, history, music, personal hygiene and more.

Clay County Sheriff’s Department February Monthly Report 02/01/2024 Eric Proctor of Rector was cited for No Driver’s License. 02/01/2024 Lance Burr of Piggott was arrested for Misdemeanor Fleeing, Felony Failure to Appear Possession of Controlled Substance Meth, Domestic Battery 2nd Degree.

Rector City Council addresses several points of business

At the Rector City Council meeting Monday, March 4, at the Rector Community Center, several points of business were conducted with efficiency. A short report from the Zoning Commission, which met at 6 p.m. at City Hall, was presented by Kelly Baker. Baker appeared toward the conclusion of the Council meeting and distributed a check-list for zoning requests that will help citizens know the steps required to change a zoning order.

Primary election results

Turnout was light for the 2024 primary and school election in Clay County with only 1,854 ballots cast. A total of 1,469 ballots were cast in the Republican Primary, another 257 in the Democratic, and 128 Nonpartisan.
