Despite a rainy Thursday night, the weather cleared off to make for a great day for the 25th annual edition of the local car show. The beautiful, but warm weather made for a great turnout of spectators and entries with over 200 cars being displayed at the beau-tiful park.
Each year, Clay County Extension offers a 4-H Youth Leadership Citizenship Program for high school juniors in cooperation with local schools and sponsors. Allie Foster, Jasmine James, and Joslin Ward were the recipients of the 2023 Clay County Youth Leadership Citizenship Team Scholarships their junior year and received the scholarships this year as seniors.
The Governor’s Scholastic Honors Day was held Saturday, May 4, 2024, at the Governor’s Mansion in Little Rock. Scholastic Honors Day recognizes Arkansas’ best and bright-est students. Schools are encouraged to select two students in the senior class who best represent excellent academic achievement.
The Piggott High School gym was rockin’ and rollin’ with a little bit of gospel and country added in on Friday night, May 17 as Elvis impersonator, Brian Lee Howell and his band thrilled the crowd with an absolutely fantastic performance. Howell did a great job with his vocals and Elvis movements as he sang many popular songs of the late, great King of Rock and Roll.
Rector Elementary School celebrated on May 21, at 9 a.m. with parent, grandparents, friends and community members as an especially large group of kindergarten students participated in the traditional kindergarten graduation ceremony.
