A public meeting was held on Monday, May 30 at the St. Francis Baptist Church to address questions and concerns regarding the upcoming closing and rebuilding of the current bridge.

Causey reunion set June 29
The children of Homer and Dora Causey will be hosting a family reunion beginning at 12 noon on Saturday, June 29, at the Pollard Picnic ground. All family and friends are invited to attend. Organizers note a potluck meal will be served.
Fourth of July Pageant schedule
Once again, a full schedule of pageants from birth to 21 and up will accompany the Piggott 4th of July picnic. The first four pageants will be held the evening of July 3, with the remainder being held on July 4. All pageants will be held on the stage at the picnic grounds.

1984 The temperature was noticeably cooler and the outside darker throughout the southern United States last Wednesday, May 30, as the most spectacular solar eclipse of many years occurred. Jim Winton, partner in Clay CountyAbstract and Insurance, Piggott, was recently appointed as district vice president of the Arkansas Land Title Association for district number two which is composed of 18 counties in Northeast Arkansas.
Writers’ Retreat set at Hemingway-Pfeiffer
The summer 2024 Hemingway-Pfeiffer Writers’ Retreat for adults is scheduled June 17-21. Registration is $325. Lunch and breaks are included. Retreats are held in the Educational Center and Hemingway Barn-Studio and offer adults the opportunity to work on personal creative writing under the direction of a professional mentor.
Mary’s Chapel Cemetery meeting to be held June 9
The annual Mary’s Chapel Cemetery meeting will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 9, in the conference room of the Rector Community Center. Anyone with ties to the cemetery is urged to attend and help support the cemetery.
