Clay County Quorum Court met on Monday, July 15 at the courthouse in Piggott with justices Dennis Haines, Patrick Patterson, David Hatcher, George Lowe, Neal Smith, Randy Kingston, Brad Green and David Cagle in attendance and Justice Jody Henderson absent.
On Monday, July 1, Sonic franchisee group, DHR (Davis, Hull and Rowden) sold four of their stores to Lapidary Capital Group, two of these stores being right here in Clay County. Along with stores in West Helena and Dumas, Piggott and Rector Sonics were part of the deal.
Piggott Health System is once again partnering with Access TeleCare, the nation’s leading multispecialty telemedicine practice, to bring outpatient neurology services to its patients via telemedicine. The service officially began July 17.
Gale Louise (Pettit) Skelton went to heaven July 12, 2024, after being married for 48 years and just shy of her 66 birthday. Gale was a graduate of Corning High School and Black River Vo-Tech School of Nursing.
Piggott High School will host student registration for the upcoming school year from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 1. Parent/ guardian must bring their student’s birth certificate, social security number, and two proof of residency (utility bill, etc. postmarked within the last 60 days).
Once again for 2024, members of the Piggott Community Alliance have joined forces to organize “Backpack Bash” for students of Piggott Elementary and Piggott High School. This year’s bash will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3. This year the event will take place at the Piggott First General Baptist Church Life Center.
Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum & Educational Center in Piggott has announced new dates for its upcoming event, ‘The Garden of Eden’ Reading Retreat and Banquet, Aug. 9-10. ‘The Garden of Eden’ is one of Hemingway’s most perplexing novels. Published posthumously and set in the French Riviera, it examines the complicated relationship between David Bourne and his wife Catherine. The novel alongside two other Lost Generation novels that share important themes will be explored.
Students on the Chancellor’s and Dean’s Lists for the spring 2024 semester at Arkansas State University have been announced. The lists recognize undergraduate students who achieved the highest gradepoint averages while completing a minimum of 12 credit hours of study.
