“Since I grew up in the country, out in the Leonard community on our farm, to get to come to Rector was a huge family outing, almost an event,” shared Sherry French Dills. “Add to that the once-a-year Labor Day Picnic weekend and the entire experience was the highlight of the year. We’d go to the parade, picnic and ride the rides, run, laugh, and play. I hated it when we had to go home around mid-day, clean up, rest, and get ready to go back to the picnic grounds for the evening,” said Dills, the 2024 Labor Day Parade Grand Marshal. Looking forward to Labor Day and then holding on to the memories until the next year was and is a huge part of Rector’s community life.
