Rector FUMC to host event Labor Day

Desserts and drinks (water, tea, and lemonade) will be available for purchase for $5 per person at the Rector Community Center multipurpose room from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 2. The event is being hosted by Rector First United Methodist Church with all proceeds benefitting the Woodland Heights Cemetery. Tables and chairs will be set up to provide a cool, comfortable opportunity to visit with friends and family. Free drink refills will be available.

Donations needed at Parks Cemetery

Parks Cemetery, located 2 miles west of Rector, is in need of donations for the upkeep of the cemetery. “If you have loved ones buried at the cemetery we would appreciate your donation,” commented a spokesperson. Maynard Pioneer Days announced

The 44th annual Maynard Pioneer Days is set Thursday, Sept. 12 through Saturday, Sept. 14. They’ll kick things off this year with “School Night” at 5 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 12, at the Pioneer Park and Museum. The festivities continue on Friday with a chicken ‘n dumpling or hamburger plate served at 5 p.m., baked goods contest, auction and a free concert by Cory Jackson at 7 p.m. The annual parade is set for 10 a.m. on Saturday. There will also be crafts, concessions, blacksmithing demonstrations, bounce house, and music from Dixon Street. Those wanting additional information may call 870-6472701.

Poultry testing for fair set Aug. 24

All poultry to be entered in the Clay County Fair, set to begin Sept. 11, must be tested negative for Pullorum-Thyphoid within the 90 days prior to the fair to comply with Arkansas Livestock and Poultry Commission regulations. Testing and pre-registration will only be done from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24, in the show barn at the fairgrounds.
