Piggott Lady Mohawks host Barton Bears
The Piggott Lady Mohawk Volleyball team hosted the Barton Bears on Tuesday, Sept. 17 The Tribe beat the Bears in three straight sets.

“I’ve been fascinated with trains since the day I was born,” declared Kansas City, Missouri, resident and train chaser Dickie Landon. He shared his story of being born inside a Cotton Belt passenger car while the train chugged along, rumbled and jostled on the tracks, in the middle of nowhere in Crittenden County, Arkansas.

Sugar Creek Country Club of Piggott hosted its annual three-man scramble the weekend of Sept. 7 and 8 with players in the Championship, “A” Flight, “B” Flight and “C” Flight.

Junior Mohawks fall to Rivercrest Colts
The Junior High Mohawk football team had their first home game against the Rivercrest Colts Thursday night, Sept. 19. The Colts scored two touchdowns in the first quarter both with successful 2 point conversions making the score 16-0. Their offense continued to add points to the board by scoring 4 more touchdowns, with 3 successful 2 point conversions and one unsuccessful attempt in the second quarter. The score before half time was 38-0.
Rector takes on Marshall Bobcats
Rector Senior High Cougars traveled to the foothills area of Arkansas’ Boston Mountains to the town of Marshall to take on the Bobcats on Friday, Sept. 13, in Rector’s first varsity game of the season.

The Rector 4H Cougars made a memorable mark at this year’s Clay County Expo, taking home a haul of ribbons, trophies, and welldeserved recognition. From the smallest showmen to the grand champions, these young exhibitors demonstrated their hard work, dedication, and passion for their animals.
Crawford announces 2024 Congressional App Challenge
Representative Rick Crawford is calling on ninth through 12th grade students living in the First Congressional District to showcase their creativity and STEM skills in the 2024 Congressional App Challenge. Crawford believes that fostering innovation and engagement in computer science and STEM education is crucial for future workforce and the economic growth.
