Poll worker training planned

A poll worker training will be held Thursday, Sept. 19 for anyone who has not received poll worker training in the past year and who is interested in working in the General Election in November. Please contact County Election Coordinator, Karen Cagle, to register or for more information. The class is free and has a limit of 10.

Annual fishing rodeo planned at Heritage Park

The City of Piggott Parks and Recreation and the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is set to host the 2024 annual family fishing rodeo at Heritage Park. This year’s rodeo will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 28. The event is open to those 15 and under. Organizers note only one pole may be used for each competitor, and there is a three fish limit. Arkansas fishing licenses are required for adults.

Probation search results in drug arrests

Clay County Sheriff’s Department reports that on Monday, Sept. 9, 2024, at approximately 9:32 p.m. they conducted a probation search at 667 Church Street in St. Francis, the residence of 37year-old Zachery S. Russell. Once the sheriff’s department entered the residence, they came in contact with 5--year-old William Harley Russell. Russell had a warrant for Failure to Appear in Clay County Circuit Court on the charge of Certain Persons Possessing a Firearm. After a search was conducted, both subjects were transported to the Clay County Detention Center.
