Maynard Pioneer Days set

The 44th annual Maynard Pioneer Days is set Thursday, Sept. 12 through Saturday, Sept. 14. They’ll kick things off this year with “School Night” at 5 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 12, at the Pioneer Park and Museum. The festivities continue on Friday with a chicken ‘n dumpling or hamburger plate served at 5 p.m., baked goods contest, auction and a free concert by Cory Jackson at 7 p.m. The annual parade is set for 10 a.m. on Saturday. There will also be crafts, concessions, blacksmithing demonstrations, bounce house, and music from Dixon Street. Those wanting additional information may call 870-6472701.

Powhatan Historic State Park to host Trial by Jury Sept. 21

Powhatan Historic State Park will host a Trial by Jury from 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21. Join park staff and become the judge, part of the jury, a lawyer, or maybe even the accused as they bring a court case from Powhatan’s history to life. No acting experience is needed, but participants should come ready to dive in and interact with each other. Space is limited and registration is required with the fee set at $25. Registration fee is $25. Simpson applied for a Modernization Grant through the Arkansas Department of Education Division of Career and Technical Education.
