1984 Staff members of the Piggott Schools were introduced to gifted and talented educational programs at the pre-school workshop. The Piggott School District has received a state planning grant to develop a program for gifted and talented students during this school year.
The Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas announced that funding for the Statewide School Food Pantry Program has been extended through Dec. 31, 2024. In late July the Food Bank was informed that the program’s funding would end Sept. 30.
The Rector Saddle Club revived by Andy Wyss and a crew of helpers held a Showdeo on Saturday, Aug. 24, and group leaders were pleased with the attendance and enthusiasm.
The Clay County Fair will be held Wednesday through Saturday, Sept. 11 through 14, at the fairgrounds in Piggott. Keeping with recent tradition, the annual pageants will be held in conjunction with the fair Saturday, Sept. 7, beginning at 9:30 a.m. with the Baby Mr. and Miss Clay County pageants, and will continue throughout the day. Rector School to host public mtg. The Rector School District will host its annual report to the public meeting at 5 p.
The schedule for the 2024 Clay County Fair has been set. This year’s fair will kick-off with the usual pageants on Saturday, Sept. 7, although the majority of events are being held Wednesday through Saturday, Sept. 11 to 14 with the parade set for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10.
As in times past, the annual Clay County Fair Parade will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10 and entrants are now being recruited. In keeping with tradition, the parade will begin at the First Baptist Church of Piggott and will end at the fairgrounds. Line up and registration will start at 6:30 p.m. at the church.
