The Rector Area Chamber of Commerce will host their annual membership meeting from 12 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15 at the Rector Community Center. Lunch will be catered by Traveling Wisk and will include lasagna, salad, breadsticks and desserts for a cost of $15 per person the day of the meeting.
Jerry Cecil Chilcutt, a cherished educator, musician, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2024, in Rector, Arkansas. Born on February 16, 1945, in Paragould, Arkansas, Jerry’s life was a symphony of joy, laughter, and creativity that resonated with all who knew him.
Powhatan Historic State Park will host “Ghost Walks” tours Friday, Oct. 18 and Saturday, Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. each night. Park interpreters will take guests on guided tours, highlighting the many ghost sto-ries, folk tales, and legends about the park in its 200-year history. The cost for the guided tour is $6 plus tax per adult and $4 plus tax per person for children ages 12 and under. Space is limited and registration is required. Powhatan Historic State Park will host a Great Arkansas Cleanup Day from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12. Each year the Great Arkansas Cleanup welcomes participants to join park staff in keeping the Natural State as beautiful as possible.

Jacob Cox, of Rector, was recently initiated into Beta Upsilon Chi at the University of Central Arkansas. More than 370 students were initiated into Panhellenic or Interfraternity Council organizations during the fall 2024 semester.
HPMEC will host a poetry workshop from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9 in the educational center. Registration fee for the workshop is $35 per person and will include lunch.
