Rector High School FBLA is once again conducting their Sock-Tober event throughout the month of October. The students will be collecting new, unopened socks and underwear of any size, color or thickness to donate to Together We Foster clothing closet to help meet a basic need for local foster care families.

Piggott City Council met at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24 for a public condemnation hearing on property at 316 S. Monroe. After discussion with the owner, the council voted to give the owner six months to get the house torn down and cleaned up.
The Clay County Quorum Court met on Monday, Oct. 21 at the courthouse in Corning with Justices Dennis Haines, Patrick Patterson, Brad Green, Randy Kingston, David Hatcher, George Lowe and Jody Henderson in attendance.
Prior to the fundraising night of Bingo that was organized by the new organization Rector School District PTO (Parent-Teacher Organization), an interested group of parents led by April Lindsey and Jessica Graham met in September and discussed how exactly they might begin. The District’s Community Engagement liaison, Jessica Graham, floated the idea of a PTO at a regular meeting with parents and teachers.
