Clay County Hazard Mitigation plan meeting Dec. 5 at Corning

The Clay County Hazard Mitigation plan a kickoff meeting from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5 at the Clay County Electric Coop located at 3111 US 67 in Corning. The meeting will help those in attendance learn about the Clay County Hazard Mitigation Plan and the process they will undertake to update the plan. Those attending will be able to provide feedback on possible hazards, project to mitigate hazards and community

date on the meeting with MMRS,ARDOT and Smith and Company on the sidewalk project remarking the project will most likely start after the first of the year. If it should start in December it was agreed work would start on Cherry Street as to not interfere with the stores in town for their Christmas sales and activities. Work will be done in sections at a time, as not to interfere with business any more than necessary and to provide an alternate entrances to businesses.

Piggott Public Library offering free gift wrapping

The Piggott Public Library is currently offering gift wrapping services for the holiday season. The “elves” at the library will be wrapping gifts through noon Friday, Dec. 20. Event organizers noted most gifts will be wrapped, and ready for pickup, within 24 hours. And, there is no charge—as the elves are working for donations. Those wanting additional information, and dropoff times, may call the library at 870-598-3666.

HPMEC hosting photo exhibit

The Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Educational Center will be hosting the photographic exhibit entitled The Veneto of Ernest Hemingway: Across the River into the Trees series seven. The exhibit is com-prised of a series of beautiful black and white panels. The exhibit will be on display through December on the second floor of the museum.
