LIHEAP applications open for winter utilities bill assistance

Entergy Arkansas customers who need help paying their winter utility bills can apply now for up to $475 in assistance through the federal Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). The program’s regular assistance application period runs Jan. 6 through the end of March, officials said, or until funds are expended while crisis assistance applications will be accepted through April 30.

HP XXIII Student Art Exhibition to be showcased

The Hemingway-Pfeiffer XXIII Student Art Exhibition will be showcased at The Blue Awning Gallery in Piggott with all artwork on display through Jan. 24. The exhibition’s show is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 24. Cash prizes, courtesy of the Matilda and Karl Pfeiffer Museum, will be awarded to the first, second and third place winners. The public is invited to attend the event.

Working meeting date set Feb. 10

Rector City Council has set a working meeting date and time for 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10 at the Rector Community Center. The meeting is open to the public as are all council meetings. This meeting is to work through the details of a gradual increase in water rates, that are required, so the citizens will not experience a big rate increase at one time. The meeting allows for discussion within the Council members, only.
