Triggering flashbacks to the eras of Elvis, Finley Watkins brought the action, the swoons, good humor, and a synced array of nostalgic still photos and liveaction to the Ford Room on Friday night, Feb. 21. Prior to the show, which was sponsored by Glen Sain Motors and Recurrent Solar Energy, a fish plate dinner was enjoyed by over 70 ticket holders. The Recurrent Solar Energy group donated to the fish dinner, bringing the ticket price to $25 per person. Brad Green cooked the fish, Pat Thompson baked homemade Parker House rolls, and Mavis Smith added her culinary touch with her signature banana pudding dessert. The crowd was happy and conversational even before Finley Watkins, Elvis Tribute Artist, took the stage.
A Rector man was arrested after Rector Police Department received a call about a male subject walking outside a residence with a knife, according to the Clay County Sheriff’s Department.
Piggott Elementary School will be enrolling children eligible for kindergarten for the 2025- 26 school year from 8: 30 a. m. to 2: 30 p. m. on Wednesday, March 12. The registration will be held in the PES parent center. Parents or guardians bringing a child to be enrolled should also bring their child’s birth certificate, immunization records, social security card, and a proof of residence. Piggott City Council met on Thursday, Feb. 27 with all members present and a busy agenda. Motion was made and passed to approve the minutes of the previous meeting. The motion carried unanimously.

Velma Pritchett turned 100 years old on Feb. 21 and was honored with a drop in birthday celebration on Sat. Feb. 22 with over 300 friends and relatives dropping by to offer their best wishes.
