Piggott School Board hires new teachers in special session
The Piggott School Board met in special session on Thursday, April 24 with members Jennifer Rahn, Kristen Gurley, Jacob Richardson and Rob Chandler in attendance. Fallon Winscott was absent.

The Clay County Quorum Court met in regular session on Monday, April 21 at the courthouse in Corning with Justices Dennis Haines, Patrick Patterson, David Hatcher, Brad Green, George Lowe, Randy Kingston, Jody Henderson and Neal Smith present. Justice David Cagle was absent.
Rector Elementary will host kindergarten registration from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Friday, May 16 at the RES main building. Parents will need to provide a copy of their child’s social security card, birth certificate, immunization records, and proof of residence.
Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce has been approved to host Bingo, which will be held the first Monday of each month beginning May 5 at the Piggott Community Center located at 161 E. Pfeiffer Street. Doors will open at 6 p.m. with games beginning at 6:30 p.m. Cash prizes are available and you must be 18 years of age or older to play.
Liberty Hill Cemetery will host its annual decoration day on Saturday, May 3. A business meeting will start at 11 a.m. with a potluck dinner following at noon. Those interested in making a donation to the cemetery may do so at First National Bank or mail to Mike Cook, 853 Castleberry, Piggott, Ark., 72454.
Rector Downtown Central, affiliated with Main Street Arkansas, and partners with the City of Rector and RectorArea Chamber of Commerce, is hosting Main Street May Fest on May 3 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. in downtown Rector. The May Fest hub will be The Caffeinated Cow, local coffee and ice cream shop.
RIBBON CUTTING HELD AT LOS COMPADRES
Hamlets Service EHC will be offering an afternoon of Bingo beginning at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 10. The event is being held at the First General Baptist Church in Piggott located at 679 S. Taylor Ave. Admission is $10 and includes one card. Additional cards will be available for $1 each. Those wanting to play must be 18 years of age or older.
