New Hope Baptist Church in Pollard invites all kids to their VBS which kicked-off on Wednesday, June 4. Those attending will enjoy a night of worship, free food, games, and a fun way to kick-off the summer with vacation bible school. Vacation Bible School will continue each Wednesday night through July 16. Those at-tending will be served a meal at 5:30 p.m. with VBS to follow. This year’s theme is “Magnified!” as those attending will discover the bigness of God in the smallest of things. The children of Homer and Dora Causey will be hosting a family reunion beginning at 12 noon on Saturday, June 28, at the Pollard Picnic ground. All family and friends are invited to attend. Organizers note a potluck meal will be served.
Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Educational Center will host an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, July 4. Admission is free.
The Piggott High School class of 1975 will hold a 50th class reunion on Thursday, July 3 at Strawberry’s BBQ event room in Holcomb, Missouri. Doors open at 5 p.m. and a buffet meal will be served at 6 p.m. The meal is at no charge to a classmate and their plus one. Any beverages other than tea and water will not be included. The Piggott High School class of 1968 will hold a get-together from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, at the Piggott Diner. The event is casual attire and buffet will be available for purchase for those attending. “We look forward to seeing you there,” commented a class member.
RECTOR - The Rector Public Library kicked-off their Summer Reading Program with Hometown Heroes on Wednesday, June 4. “Over 180 children and adults attended our Hometown Heroes program, ready to explore, learn, and meet some of our local champions,” commented Virginia Shipley, Rector Public Library Assistant Director.
