Jackson Hill graduates from NWCC

SENATOBIA, MS - Jackson Hill of Rector is one of Northwest Mississippi Community College’s graduates. These graduates were awarded degrees and certificates for the spring 2025 semester by Northwest President Dr. Michael Heindl on May 8 and 9, during the college’s 118th Commencement.

Mahan, Miller named to Dean’s List

Three Rivers College has released its Dean’s List for the spring 2025 semester. Locals making the list include Amanda Mahan of Piggott and Samuel Miller of Corning. The honor is awarded to students taking 12 or more credit hours in a semester, who achieve a grade point average of 3.5 or above. Dean’s List honors are also used at graduation to help determine eligibility for honors or highest honors.

Clay County 4-H YLC scholarships awarded

Each year, Clay County Extension offers a 4-H Youth Leadership Citizenship Program for high school juniors in cooperation with local schools and sponsors. Kayleigh Drum, Charlie Latta, and Emma Holmes were the recipients of the 2024 Clay County Youth Leadership Citizenship Team Scholarships and received scholarships this year as 2025 graduating seniors.

Powhatan State Park to host workshop

Powhatan Historic State Park will host a Pearl Stringing Workshop on Saturday, June 14, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Join park staff and learn how to make your own pearl jewelry. Participants will learn the history of pearling on the Black River and this unique jewelry history. Participants will leave with their own hand-made jewelry. Space is limited and registration is required. Registration fees: Necklace: $25; Bracelet: $15; Earrings $10. Space is limited and registration is required. Registration fee is $25. Cougar 4-H Club hosts annual awards banquet

On Saturday, May 10, 2025, the Cougar 4-H Club held its annual awards banquet to celebrate the accomplishments of its members during the 2024 program year. The event recognized outstanding participation and achievement across three age divisions: Cloverbuds (ages 5–8), Juniors (ages 9–13), and Seniors (ages 14–19), based on each member’s 4H age, which is determined by their age on January 1 of the program year.
