French, third generation doctor in Duckworth family

Hillary French, a 2009 graduate of Piggott High School, graduated from Arkansas College of Osteopathic Medicine on May 17, 2025 with plans to practice in Piggott at the end of her residency at UAMS North Central Regional Campus-Batesville. French did her masters in 2020 and graduated from Arkansas Colleges of Health Education in Fort Smith in 2021 and began medical school in July of 2021.

Rector Public Library begins Summer Reading Program

The Rector Public Library is geared-up for a busy June and July as the Summer Reading Program returns. This year’s theme is “Color Our World”. The programs are at 9 a.m. Wednesdays during the month of June and will continue through July 23. This year two Monday programs have been added on June 16 and July 21. The 2025 Summer Reading Program is open to children of all ages, with prizes, drawings, stories, reading logs, and more.

Parks Cemetery accepting donations

Parks Cemetery, located 2 miles west of Rector, is in need of donations for the upkeep of the cemetery. “If you have loved ones buried at the cemetery we would appreciate your do-nation,” commented a spokesperson. Piggott Public Library to begin Summer Reading Program

Readers of all ages are invited to participate in the Summer Reading Program at the Piggott Public Library as they present “Color Our World”. The programs are at 11 a.m. Wednesdays during the months of June and July. This year the library will add additional programs and you are encouraged to check out their Facebook page for more details. The 2025 Summer Reading Program is open to children of all ages, with prizes, drawings, stories, reading logs, and more.

Local schools to participate in USDA Summer Feeding program

Once again this year, both the Piggott and Rector School Districts are taking part in the USDA Summer Feeding program. Under the federally- funded effort, all those under the age of 18 are provided free meals at local schools. The meals are the same for all children regardless of family income, race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability. No registration is required for those attending.
