On Saturday, July 12, 4-H members from across Clay County came together for one of the most anticipated events of the year—the annual 4-H Pool Party. Held as a way to beat the summer heat and build friendships across club lines, the event brought together members from the Bobcat Club, Piggott Livestock Club, Rector Cougar Club, Tech Changemakers, and the Clay County Leadership group for an evening of fun, laughter, and connection.
The John J. Pershing VA Medical Center will host an informational town hall event July 31 at the Brown-Mabry American Legion Post 153, 2320 Kanell Blvd., in Poplar Bluff.
The Rector Public Library recently received the following memorials.
L&L Manquest, Joshua, Tara, Levi, Lucas White and Pilot, the family from Nevada who touched the hearts of Piggott residents as well as people across the United States, returned to Piggott for a visit on their way home. Friends the family made while here earlier gathered at the Clay County Fairgrounds on Thursday for a meet and greet question and answer session to hear about their adventures since leaving Piggott.
Black River Area Development Corporation will hold a public meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 29 in regards to Public Transportation for 2026. The meeting will be held in person at 1403 Hospital Drive, Pocahontas and virtually.
Sign-ups are underway for a coed softball tournament set for Saturday, Aug. 30 in Piggott. The event will be held at the Piggott City Field and will consist of a 3-game minimum. A 7-3 format (must have at least three females on the field), will be in place. Cost for the tournament is $200 per team. The 95th edition of the annual Greenway Picnic, held each year to fund the continued upkeep of the beautiful Mitchell Cemetery, is set for this Saturday, Aug. 2, at the community’s picnic grounds and will feature the traditional slate of beauty pageants.
