Full day of fun awaits at Pollard Picnic

Registrations are still being accepted for the Pollard Beauty Contests, being held in conjunction with this week’s annual picnic. The 2025 Pollard Picnic will be held Saturday, July 12, at Pollard and will benefit the continued upkeep of the New Hope Cemetery. In keeping with tradition, fried chicken dinners, music, softball games, games for children and beauty pageants will highlight the picnic. Recently, the organizers announced the following schedule.

VBS continues through July 16 at New Hope Baptist Church

New Hope Baptist Church in Pollard invites all kids to their VBS which kicked-off on Wednesday, June 4. Those attending will enjoy a night of worship, free food, games, and a fun way to kick-off the summer with vacation bible school. Vacation Bible School will continue each Wednesday night through July 16. Those attending will be served a meal at 5:30 p.m. with VBS to follow. This year’s theme is “Magnified!” as those attending will discover the bigness of God in the smallest of things. Confederate Memorial Day observed at Four Mile Cemetery

John L. Patterson Chapter 2682, United Daughters of the Confederacy, sponsored a Wreath Ceremony for Confederate Memorial Day on Tuesday, June 3, at Four Mile Cemetery northwest of Campbell. President Mary Bess Green welcomed the attendees including Missouri Division President Judy Frerking of Marshall, Missouri., and Division Registrar Velma Cole of Florence, Missouri.

Piggott and Rector Schools continue Summer Feeding program

Once again this year, both the Piggott and Rector School Districts are taking part in the USDA Summer Feeding program. Under the federally-funded effort, all those under the age of 18 are provided free meals at local schools. The meals are the same for all children regardless of family income, race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability. No registration is required for those attending.
