Prior to the August Quorum Court meeting on Monday, Aug. 18, the Clay County justices and county administration met at 5:30 p.m. at the Black River Trap and Skeet Club where Clay County Extension agents held a fish fry and interpretive event.

Runners and walkers are being recruited for the annual Rector Labor Day 5K Run/Walk, set for 8 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30. The event, which benefits the RHS Helping Hands Foundation, will begin in front of the Rector High School gymnasium.

A large group of family and friends joined Jessica Wilson Friday, Aug. 15 at a ribbon cutting as she celebrated ownership of Salon 309 located on 9th Street in Rector. The McDougal Annual Homecoming Picnic will host a Car Show for cars and trucks on August 30 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. There will be a $25 dollar entry fee that includes one hamburger and soda.
The annual McDougal Homecoming Picnic is set for Saturday, Aug. 30, at Edna Cooper Park along U.S. Highway 62.
