Personnel matters among topics at Piggott School Board special meeting
The Piggott School Board met in a special session on Thursday, July 31 with all board members present. The board amended the agenda to have the executive session at the beginning of the meeting.
A-State commencement set Saturday
Arkansas State University will host its Summer Commencement Ceremony starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 9, at First National Bank Arena, located at 217 Olympic Drive.
Simmons awarded degree from UofA
The University of Arkansas honored its most recent graduating class with a series of spring commencement ceremonies at Bud Walton Arena and Barnhill Arena, and the School of Law’s ceremony at the Fayetteville Town Center.
Rector School District plans open house Aug. 7
Rector School District will host open house from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, in the preschool, elementary and high school buildings. Teachers, counselors, and administration will be available for meet and greet and to answer fundamental questions about the curriculum, parent visitation policy, and other standard questions. The first day of classes for students in the Rector School District is Monday, Aug. 11.
Rector salons plan free back-to-school haircuts
Salons in Rector will be providing free back-to-school haircuts from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 9. Those participating include Z’s Salon, Salon 309 and Rector Barber and Style. The event is for Rector students only and no appointment Is necessary.
Playground party planned during open house
The Piggott High FBLA program is sponsoring a free community event for all Piggott School District students. The Back-to-School Playground Party will take place at the Piggott Elementary School playground the night of open house from 4 to 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 11. Classes will begin Wednesday, Aug. 13.
