The Rector Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting an art show on Sunday, Oct. 5 from 2 to 4 p.m. at The Noles Social in Rector featuring local artists and artists with ties to the Rector community.
Piggott Mohawk tennis teams started their season off facing some very tough opponents. On Thursday, Aug. 14 they played host to Tuckerman losing both the boys and girls team match. Houston Dunlap and Kyler Reel and Ty Little and Mason Mowery won their doubles match.

HPMEC OFFERS HELP FOR STUDENTS
The 45th annual Maynard Pioneer Days is set Thursday, Sept. 18 through Saturday, Sept. 20. They’ll kick things off this year with “School Night” at 5 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 18, at the Pioneer Park and Museum. The festivities continue on Friday with a chicken ‘n dumpling or hamburger plate served at 5 p.m., baked goods contest, auction and a free concert by Finley Watkins at 7 p.m. The annual parade is set for 10 a.m. on Saturday. There will also be crafts, concessions, blacksmithing demonstrations, bounce house and music from Dixon Street. Those wanting additional information may call 870-647-2701.
After a quick shower and change of wardrobe, after sprinting along Rector’s streets in the Rector Helping Hands 5K, a large group of Rector Sports supporters gathered at the Rector gym for a lunch catered by Dawn’s Diner and recognition of newly inducted Rector Sports Hall of Fame members at the 17th Annual Awards event.
