Three Rector Cougar 4-H members attend NEA Summer Swelter Jackpot livestock show
This summer, three Rector Cougar 4-H members showcased their dedication and hard work at the NEA Summer Swelter Jackpot livestock show. Chloe, Ellie, and Cash McCurry each represented the club with pride and impressive results.
Two deceased found in Knobel residence
The Clay County Sheriff’s Department reports that on Tuesday, Sept. 2, at approximately 7:51 p.m. the department was contacted about a welfare check at a residence on 5th Street in Knobel. The caller advised they had not been able to make contact with the individuals for several days. At approximately 8:20 p.m. a deputy arrived at the residence but was unable to get anyone to answer the door. The deputy then made a forced entry into the residence where he found Tina Keas, 45, and Dewey Ramsey, 69, deceased. The sheriff’s department and the corner do not suspect foul play at this time. Both individuals have been sent to the State Crime Lab to determine a cause of death. The investigation is ongoing but anyone who might have information into this matter are asked to contact the Clay County Sheriff’s Department at 870-5982270.


Rector Cougar 4-H Club prepares for Clay County Fair
The Rector Cougar 4-H Club has been hard at work since September 2024, creating a variety of crafts to showcase at the upcoming Clay County Fair. With fair week quickly approaching, members are eager to display the results of months of creativity, dedication, and teamwork.

Ronnie Cole to seek re-election as Clay County Sheriff and Collector
Ronnie Cole recently announced his intentions to file for re-election as Clay County Sheriff and Collector in November. He noted he will be on the Republican Primary ballot in the March 2026 election.
