Joella Marie Pollard, a beacon of faith and optimism, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2025, at the age of 91 in Pocahontas, Arkansas. Born on March 2, 1934, in Rector, Arkansas, to the late James and Lois (King) Hill, Joella’s gentle spirit and kind heart touched the lives of all who knew her.
Joella’s journey through life was marked by her unwavering faith and the love she had for her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Duward Pollard, with whom she shared a lifetime of cherished memories until his passing. Together, they raised a family that included their son, Kenneth Pollard of Jacksonville, Arkansas, and their daughters, Becky and John Rhodes of Maynard, Arkansas, Terry Hill of Benton, Arkansas, and Joyce Huffstutler of Piggott. Joella was a sister to seven siblings, all of whom predeceased her, leaving a legacy of family bonds that she held dear to her heart.
Her role as a grandmother was one of her most treasured, as she showered her grandchildren, Autumn Lindquist, Byron Huffstutler, Monica Huffstutler, and Alyssa Branstetter, with love and wisdom. Joella’s joy multiplied with the arrival of her three great-granddaughters, who became the apples of her eye.
Joella’s commitment to her community was evident through her many years of dedicated service as a faithful member and Sunday school teacher at South Thornton Church of Christ. Her devotion to her faith and the church community was a testament to her character and the values she lived by.
Throughout her life, Joella found pleasure in the simple things. She was an avid reader, always with a book in hand, and she possessed a talent for working puzzles that challenged her sharp mind. Her love for nature was apparent in her enjoyment of watching birds, and she could often be found cheering on her favorite baseball team, the St. Louis Cardinals, showcasing her unwavering team spirit.
Visitation was held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at the Piggott Mortuary followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. Interment was at the New Hope Cemetery in Pollard.
