Sherman Delindell Cullum
Sherman Delindell Cullum of Hickory Ridge, Arkansas, passed away from this earthly life on Friday, September 5, 2025, at Phil and Flow Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.
Sherman was born on June 27, 1937, in Piggott, Arkansas, to Jessie James Cullum and Imogene Hooks Cullum. He was baptized in 1948 at the Piggott Church of Christ. Sherman married Linda Swindle in 1961 in St Louis, Missouri. After a couple of stops along the way, they made their permanent home in Hickory Ridge. Sherman was also a patriot, serving in the Arkansas National Guard for six years, as a Staff Sergeant. He was a graduate of Piggott High School, and of the University of Arkansas College of Agriculture where he was a member of the Alpha Beta Fraternity, from whom he eventually received the Distinguished Alumni Award. Sherman was inducted into the Arkansas Agriculture Hall of Fame in 2004. Sherman also served on the Arkansas State Plant Board for 20 years, where he served as chairman for the last 11 years. For 55 years, he hunted deer in Ravenden and fished for trout at the Roses Trout Dock in Norfork, Arkansas.
He is the former owner of Cullum Seed Company in Fisher and Waldenburg and the Cullum Flying Service in Hickory Ridge, as well as the Cullum Antique Classic Cars and Auto Sales. First and foremost, Sherman wanted to be known as a Christian, a follower of Jesus. Not a perfect man, but a forgiven man. He and Linda were members of the Hickory Ridge Church of Christ where he served as an elder for many years.
Sherman is survived by his wife, Linda Swindle Cullum of the home. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Betty Joyce Cullum Knuckles; and his son, Sherman D. Cullum, Jr., who was a graduate of Cross County High School and the Memphis College of Arts.
Visitation was held Thursday, September 11, 2025, at Hickory Ridge Church of Christ from 8:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. with funeral services following at 10 a.m. Burial followed at Piggott Memorial Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. in Piggott.
