Virginia Mae Blankenship

Virginia Mae Blankenship Bradshaw, 89, of Piggott, Ark., died June 24, 2022, at St Bernard’s Hospital in Jonesboro, Ark. She was born on June 14, 1933, in Hayti, Mo., to Herbert and Normal Darnell Blankenship.

She was married to the Vernell Scott Bradshaw on June 11, 1948, in Piggott.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Normal Darnell Blankenship. Her husband, Vernell Bradshaw. Her brothers: Jack and Junior, sisters: Mary, Joan and Shirley, and son-in-law Kennith Loveless.

She is survived by her four daughters, Veronica Latta of Wentzville, Mo., Patsy (late Kennith) Loveless of Piggott, Sherry (Richard) Jones of Peotone, Ill., and Deena Neumann of Florissant, Mo.. Grandchildren, Darrick Latta, Scott (Christie) Loveless, Amy Loveless (Bobby) Peropat, Desma Jones (Tom) George, Kyle Jones, David (Meaghan) Neumann and Elizabeth Neumann. Several great grandchildren, Katherine Latta, Megan and Molly Loveless, Kyle, Emily, Jason and Evan Peropat, Caleb, Levi and Isaiah George, Kota and Colt Neumann. One sister, Dorothy and several nephews and nieces.

Virginia was a long time member of Gravel Hill General Baptist Church. She worked at Brown Shoe Factory until it closed. Aside from raising four daughters, she had many talents and interests. She was an avid reader and taught herself how to use a computer. She was a gifted seamstress making clothing and beautiful quilts. She enjoyed displaying her projects at the county fair, often proud of won blue ribbons. She was involved with the county extension office, utilizing her artistic abilities, crocheting preemie baby caps. She took piano lessons later in life so she could play for the church choir when needed. Earlier in life she enjoyed bowling and oil painting. Virginia enjoyed travel with her husband and was ready to go at any time.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at the First Baptist Church in St Francis, Ark. Burial followed at the Gravel Hill Cemetery near St Francis. Visitation was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at the First Baptist Church in St Francis. Kim Hellebusch and Ted Winberry officiated.

Pallbearers were Danny Bradshaw, Earl McRoberts, Scott Loveless, Richard Jones, Dale Grimes, and Bobby Peropat.

In lieu of flowers you may donate to the St Jude’s Children Hospital in Memphis.
