Janice Kaye Pruett

Janice Kaye Pruett, a beacon of unwavering love and optimism, left this world on September 13, 2024, to embark on her next great adventure. Born on July 8, 1953, in Paragould, Arkansas, Janice’s life was a testament to the power of courage and the strength of the human spirit. She passed away in Jonesboro, Arkansas, surrounded by the love and warmth of her family, leaving behind a legacy of joy and resilience.

A true romantic at heart, Janice found her soulmate in Joey Pruett, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and companionship that lasted 52 beautiful years. Their union was blessed with children Amy and Steve Ward, Sarah and Jason Boyd, and their love spilled over to include honorary children Ximena Navarrete, Belen Vegas Garcia, Carlos Tayag, and Shane and April Peterson. Janice’s heart had an infinite capacity to love, and she embraced her grandchildren Shelby Ward, Macy Ward, and Grey Boyd, as well as honorary grandchildren Natalie Garza, Hannah Stanberry, and Jacob Cox, with open arms and an open heart. She also leaves behind her brothers and sisters: Deanie and Jim Wagster, Sharon Turnbo, Larry and Glenda Pruett, Perry and Deana Mills and nieces and nephews: Tisha Dooley, Kyle Pruett, Nathan Mills, Matt Mills, Ashley Burns, Cindy Ford, Michael Lankford, Kelly Vandiver and Kim Rose along with other family and friends.

Preceded in death were her parents: Howard Lankford, Robalene Lankford, Laverne and Neva Pruett, brother: Jim (Peewee) Lankford, sister: Glenda Green and her niece: Kristi Small.

A lifelong learner, Janice’s passion for beauty and creativity led her to graduate from Rector High School and pursue her dreams at Beauty School. She balanced her studies with determination and grace, earning her license before she even donned her cap and gown. Janice’s Beauty Shop became more than a business over its 40-year history; it was a community hub, a place of transformation and friendship, where Janice not only styled hair but also nurtured souls.

Janice’s interests were as diverse as they were passionate. She cherished her family, celebrating each member’s uniqueness and fostering a home where everyone was welcome. Her relationship with Joey was the epitome of partnership, with each supporting the other through life’s trials and triumphs. Janice’s zest for life was evident in her love for online shopping, a hobby that brought her joy and connected her to the wider world despite her illnesses.

Janice’s story does not end here; it lives on in the hearts of those she touched. Her legacy is one of indomitable spirit and unending love, a legacy that will continue to inspire and uplift for generations to come. Janice Kaye Pruett, a beloved wife, mother, Nana, sister, and friend, may have left this earthly realm, but her light will never fade.
