Margery Dee (Sparks) Niewald

On October 20, 2024, Margery Dee (Sparks) Niewald passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family, after a two year battle with cancer.
She was born on September 16, 1952 and was adopted by her loving parents Harold “Sparky” & Margaret Sparks in Malden, Missouri.
On May 27, 1972, she married Harry C Niewald JR and three children were born to this union.
Often called “Mrs. Margie” by many in the community she served as a school employee for 33 years. She was the secretary in the middle school, and later became the secretary for the superintendent office. She attended First Baptist Church here in Piggott and taught Sunday school for many years. She touched many lives through her service of community and church.
She is proceeded in death by her parents Harold and Margert Sparks; her step mother Clo Ella Sparks of Malden, Missouri; her inlaws, Harry C Niewald Sr. & Audia Niewald of St. Francis, Arkansas; one son-in-law, Michael Stump; and her husband of 42 years Harry C Niewald Jr.
She is survived by her children Julie Niewald Stump of St. Francis, Arkansas; Teri Lynn Niewald (Tyler Joiner) of St Francis, Arkansas; and Harry C Niewald III (Dannielle) of Naples, Italy. Her grandchildren Jacob Andrew Stump, Emberleigh Sara Paige Niewald, Michael (MJ) Stump Jr., Harry C. Niewald IV (Quade), Makayla Anne Stump, Kayleen Elise Clenney, Adelaide Mae Niewald, & August James Matthew Niewald; her brother Norman (Debby) Sparks of Knoxville, Tennessee; her sister Linda Lampe of Tupelo, Mississippi; as well as many other family & friends.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at the First Baptist Church in Piggott, Arkansas, with Bro. Danny Self officiating. Burial followed in Gravel Hill Cemetery in St. Francis, Arkansas. Pallbearers were Jason Tillman, Mark Akridge, Phil Toombs, Rex McElwrath, Casey Simpson, and Andy Dixon. Honorary pallbearers are Eric Scott, Dave Scott, Jacob Scott, Larry Winberry, Larry Norred, Link Fuller, Ed Winberry, Barry Scott, and Barry Dehart. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, was in charge of arrangements. Visitation was Friday, October 25, 2024, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Baptist Children’s Home, Alzheimer’s Association or the NEA Cancer Center.
