Anita Ellen McWherter Allman

Anita Ellen McWherter Allman 79, of Piggott, Ark., was ushered into her heavenly home on May 28, 2022.
She was born on October 21, 1942 in Hanford, Calif., to Renzo and Oma Lomax McWherter. She was united in marriage to Jerry Allman on May 14, 1966.
“Mrs. Allman” was known and loved by many in her roles as school teacher and coach. She had many “critters” over the years and loved them all. She left her mark directing numerous musicals during her years in the Piggott school system. Her quick wit and unique sense of humor made her impossible for colleagues and students to forget.
Wherever you might look, you could find Anita serving others in all corners of the community. Many have memories of her teaching Sunday school and singing and playing music in churches and in nursing homes. For many years, she volunteered in the ticket booth at the 4th of July Picnic in Piggott and also brought homemade fudge to the carnival workers. The junior auxiliary at the Piggott Community Hospital was another organization where she served and let her light shine.
If you know Anita, you know she loved bright colors which is absolutely appropriate as she was both a bright and colorful person. You could always see her coming in a shiny hat, bejeweled glasses and bling on her fingers. In the early 90’s you might have even caught a glimpse of her riding her prized hot pink scooter. Her E-bay bargains brought her great joy, but she loved giving away her “goodies” even more than getting them.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Jerry Allman; twin daughters Angela Duffel and Lisa Winberry; sons Scott Allman and Bryan Allman, all of Piggott, one sister, Karen Fraser of Conway, Ark., eight grandchildren: Jeremy Winberry, Tim Winberry, Lora Graddy, Alicia Taylor, Kelsey Whitney, Kyle Allman, Logan Allman, and Makayla Allman; and seven great grandchildren.
Her celebration of life was held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, at the Hoggard & Sons Chapel in Piggott, Ark., with Bro. Jack Cole officiating. Burial was in Piggott Cemetery in Piggott. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott was in charge of the arrangements. Visitation was held from 12 p.m. until 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers were Jeremy Winberry, Timothy Winberry, Kyle Allman, Logan Allman, Corbin Taylor and Kody Whitney.
