Traffic stop leads to arrest

Clay County Sheriff’s Department reports that on Monday, Feb. 26, at approximately 10:40 a deputy traveling through Corning when he made a traffic stop on a vehicle for an equipment violation. The traffic stop was at the intersection of U.S. 62 and U.S. 67. When the deputy came in contact with the driver, he advised the driver of why he was stopped and asked for his driver license. The deputy noticed what appeared to be drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was conducted and other illegal items were found. Taken into custody was 54year-old Terry Lee Garrett of Paragould. He was transported to the Clay County Detention Center and booked on charges of possession of Methamphetamine or Cocaine GT 2GM but LT 10GM , 2 counts of felony drug paraphernalia, no liability insurance, and defective vehicle equipment.

BRTC CTC hosts recreational drone workshop

Black River Technical College (BRTC) Career and Technical Center (CTC) recently hosted Clay County 4H Tech Changemakers Jaxon Burns, Adam Holmes, and Jaydin Stirnaman along with Clay County Extension agents Christin Holmes and Ben Holcomb as guest speakers.
