Grabbing this momentous occasion by the reigns involves not only capitalizing on potential revenue streams such as merchandise sales and parking spots but also strategizing to maximize the community’s engagement and educational outreach.
The Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for the 2024 solar eclipse on Monday, April 8 as they expect hundreds of tourists to fill the town. Numerous happenings are being planned to make sure the weekend ahead of totality is full of fun events.

Rector Athletics will host a dinner and silent auction Saturday, March 9 at the Rector First Baptist Church Life Center honoring the Rector High School football team with a ring ceremony. The silent auction is being held as a fundraiser to help pay for the purchase of the rings. Those interested in donating items for the auction or monetary donations may do so by contacting Nate Henderson at Rector High School. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for the silent auction exhibit followed by a pork steak or chicken dinner with all the fixings at 6 p.m. at $10 per person. The ring ceremony is set to begin at 6:30 p.m.
