Scholarships available for Arkansas students

Scholarships are now available for eligible Arkansas students through Arkansas Community Foundation. The Community Foundation’s scholarships are for Arkansas students pursuing education at twoor four-year colleges or universities, vocational schools or technical training programs.

IT HAPPENED HERE YEARS AGO….

1984 The Piggott School board voted unanimously Monday night for a plan that calls for a “blanket raise” of $1,491 for each of the certified personnel in the district. The teachers and administrators will receive the salary increase over the next five months.

Lady Cougars defeat Lady Greyhounds

Not only was the week of Jan. 22 filled with homecoming activities, contests, dressup days, and banner design, the neighborhood Marmaduke Lady Greyhound rivals were in the gym, ready to take on the Lady Cougar squads. Fans arrived early and ready for the Junior Class Chili Cook-off, a fund raiser for the Prom. The Lady Cougars capped the night with a 55 – 46 victory.

Cougars lose to ‘Hounds

Homecoming Day dawned at Rector High School and coronation of the King and Queen, the presentation of the court, the pep rally with skits and games occupied teachers and students. The basketball teams were focused on the Marmaduke Greyhounds who were about to contribute fans and family to the gym and the electricity was palpable. The student section wore psychedelic colors, funny wigs, and was primed for a salute to the decades with a Cougar win.
