Piggott festivities set for Friday

Piggott High School will mark basketball homecoming Friday, Jan. 26. This year’s homecoming court will be introduced during the annual royalty assembly, set for 1:30 p.m. in the PHS gym with the pep rally to follow. The royalty will also be presented at approximately 7 p.m. between the junior and senior high games as the Piggott Mohawks take on the Harrisburg Hornets.

My Valentine’s Shoppe planned

My Valentine’s Shoppe event is planned from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 3 at the Piggott Community Center located at 161 E. Pfeiffer St. Photography, crafts, food, and much more will be offered along with raffling of prizes. In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved to Feb. 10. Poll worker training set

Poll worker training for Clay County will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, at the Piggott Community Center with the second training set for Saturday, Feb. 33, at 1 p.m. at the M.B. Ainley Community Center in Corning. Other trainings will be Tuesday afternoon, April 12, and Thursday afternoon, April 14, at 3:30 at the Corning Warehouse. It is noted that you must attend only one of the two trainings to be certified to work the polls for any election during the next two years. Hoffman named to Dean’s List

Carolina Hoffman, of Marmaduke, has been named to the Dean’s List at Greenville University in Greenville, Ill., for the fall 2023 semester. To qualify for the Greenville University Dean’s List, a student must successfully complete a minimum of 12 hours for the semester.

HPMEC plans Eclipse Block Party

Dr. Les Johnson will be the guest speaker for a program planned at the Eclipse Block Party Monday, April 8, at 11 a.m. at the Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Educational Center. There will be a $10 admission which will include eclipse glasses and an eclipse box of treats. The viewing site will be held on the grounds across from the museum. Those attending are encouraged to bring your lawn chair and set up will begin at 9 a.m.
