BRAD public meeting planned

Black River Area Development Corporation will hold a public meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 29 in regards to Public Transportation for 2026. The meeting will be held in person at 1403 Hospital Drive, Pocahontas and virtually.

Rector Board hears district’s financial report

Rector School Board met Monday, July 14, at the Administration Building and heard from Superintendent Johnny Fowler regarding the district’s financial report. Concluding the Arkansas School Board fiscal year at the conclusion of June, 2025, the board saw the end balances related to salaries, operating fund, and all areas related at zero balance. The report for July 14 for period 1 shows an operating fund of $424,130.07. The building fund balance is $4,779,764.35. When combined with cafeteria funds and federal funds, the total assets are $5,482,831.08.

Sign-ups underway for Piggott co-ed softball tournament

Sign-ups are underway for a coed softball tournament set for Saturday, Aug. 30 in Piggott. The event will be held at the Piggott City Field and will consist of a 3-game minimum. A 7-3 format (must have at least three females on the field), will be in place. Cost for the tournament is $200 per team. Mohawk Football Golf Tournament set July 24

The eighth annual Mohawk Football Golf Tournament is set for Thursday, July 24, at the Sugar Creek Country Club and is being hosted by the Piggott Mohawk Football Boosters. Tee off is set for 9 a. m. with registration beginning at 8: 30 a. m. The event is a 18 hole four- person scramble and is limited to 18 teams. Lunch will be provided.
