Junior high Cougars finish season 3-3

The Junior High Rector Cougar football team finished their regular season Friday, Oct. 14, in a contest at Midland against the Mustangs and came away with their third victory of the 2023 season, finishing with a 3 – 3 record. By the score of 40 – 6, the junior Cougars showed their running strength behind the threeback set with Austin Avery, Lawson Green, and Waylon Haynes providing the offensive punch.

Piggott High School FCCLA to sponsor Powderpuff Game

Piggott High School FCCLA is sponsoring the 2023 Powderpuff Game at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3 at Hunter Midkiff Memorial Stadium. Admission is $3 with children five and under admitted free. Everyone is invited to come watch, enjoy and cheer on the freshman, sophomores, juniors and seniors play.

RES KINDERGARTEN CLASS ADOPTS CALF

RES kindergarten students in Brooke Clayton’s class recently adopted a calf from the College of the Ozarks. Arlene, a Holstein heifer, was born on Sept. 3, 2023, and was 65 pounds and 28 inches at birth.The students will get to watch Arlene grow throughout the year, and will learn about the process of making milk. PCH receives Community Outreach Award

Piggott Community Hospital was recently awarded the Community Outreach Award at the annual ARSAVES/ IDHI Conference held in Hot Springs. The conference is designated to provide the latest evidence-based practice recommendations for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke, how to utilize digital health in the treatment of stroke, and to educate the public on recognizing signs and symptoms of stroke.

Rector Cougars defeat Augusta Red Devils

Two minutes had elapsed in quarter one of the clash between the Rector Cougars and the Augusta Red Devils and Kaden Avery took a direct snap. He wove his way through and cut to the sideline and the red zone, scoring the initial Cougar touchdown with Carter Hill adding the two-point conversion.
