VBS continues through July 16 at New Hope Baptist Church

New Hope Baptist Church in Pollard invites all kids to their VBS which kicked-off on Wednesday, June 4. Those attending will enjoy a night of worship, free food, games, and a fun way to kick-off the summer with vacation bible school. Vacation Bible School will continue each Wednesday night through July 16. Those attending will be served a meal at 5:30 p.m. with VBS to follow. This year’s theme is “Magnified!” as those attending will discover the bigness of God in the smallest of things. Simpson family reunion planned July 5

The family of David E. and Helen Simpson of Boydsville, Arkansas will host a family reunion from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on July 5 at the Rector Community Center. All family members are welcome to come visit and have lunch.

Phillips makes donation to Piggott Public Library

On June, 24, Judy Cox Phillips, daughter of the late Doris and Camilla Cox, donated items she had digitized of her mother’s articles to the Piggott Public Library. The articles include three collections of obits from the 1960’s through 2017. There is also a collection of marriages and all the articles Cox had written for the Times-Democrat. Cox wrote the column “Piggott History Relived” for several years for the Clay County Times-Democrat before her passing.

Sanders graduates from WBU

Williams Baptist University awarded degrees to 120 graduates during its 2025 commencement exercises. The graduates represented 23 Arkansas counties, 10 states and seven nations. Commencement exercises were held May 3 in WBU’s Southerland-Mabee Center.
