Fall city wide yard sale set Oct. 4 in Piggott

Piggott is gearing up for its annual fall city wide yard sale set for Saturday, Oct. 4. The Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce reminds local residents sales held that day will not be required to purchase a permit from the city. Locations will also be featured on a list, which will be available from the Chamber of Commerce. Act 605, how it affects Rector and its citizens

City of Rector Water and Sewer rates have come into compliance with Arkansas Act 605 which requires a review and update of these rates once every three years to make certain that cities can meet the water and sewer needs of the public. City of Rector has grappled with the issue for several years and the construction of a new sewer pond stalled because of finances. Neither grants nor loans may be approved if the city is not being responsible for meeting city needs with appropriate water rates.

Rector Cougars split games with Marshall Bobcats

The Rector Cougars suited up against the Marshall Bobcats on Friday, Sept. 12, bringing with them a resolve to notch a win into the record book. The momentum started for Rector when the team looked at a fourth down and Marshall was flagged, bringing Rector to 2nd and goal. Kason Jetton could not quite hold on to a pretty pass from Chance Lopez. It was Lopez facing a 3rd down, prepared to run behind Colt Reddick. Another flag for holding was levied against Rector but Rector moved the ball. The down and distance was 3rd and goal from the 13 yard line and all of a sudden, Rector went ahead 8 to 6.
